How do we ensure that children achieve ‘Learning and Beyond’?
To help us achieve this, we set a clear and achievable goal for everybody in our community. We set our pupils a simple instruction through our motto:‘Be Kind, Aim High, Discover’.
 
 
This provides concrete direction to our children on the behaviours we want to see from them every day. Meeting these objectives every day will enable our pupils to achieve Learning and Beyond.

As a school, we aim to:

  • Create an environment where all children, no matter their background or starting point, are encouraged to grow in to responsible, respectful and considerate citizens (Be Kind).
  • Provide a setting where children are encouraged and inspired to achieve their best in all that they do (Aim High).
  • Provide opportunities for children to broaden their horizons and step out of their comfort zones while learning about the world (Discover).

Our vision informs and shapes what we do on a day-to-day basis. Our Vision enables us to have:
  • A focus on behaviour and attitudes in addition to Personal Development through a broad and balanced curriculum and provision of wider opportunities.
  • A focus on achieving good outcomes for all children from their starting points, including disadvantaged and SEND children, through quality first teaching and tailored provision.
  • A focus on the quality of our curriculum, including opportunities outside of school, to develop children’s cultural capital.

The ability to face challenges and difficulties is a key life skill and is particularly important for mental health. We aim to give our pupils skills and strategies to see setbacks as opportunities not problems.
Critical Thinking
We want our pupils to leave Queens Road, knowing their own minds and being able to make clear, reasoned judgments about issues which affect their own and others lives. We know that this is an invaluable life and workplace skill.
