At Queens Road Academy, we believe that high-quality Physical Education (PE) and a love for sport are fundamental to a child’s health, wellbeing, and overall development. The Primary PE and Sport Premium Grant is a vital resource that helps us bring this belief to life, providing additional funding to improve the quality of PE and sport for all our pupils. We use this funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to our PE provision. Our focus is on ensuring that the investments we make today will continue to benefit pupils for years to come. We aim to use the premium to:

  • Develop our curriculum and activities: We want to add to and enhance the range of sports and physical activities we already offer, giving every child a broader experience.
  • Build staff capacity: By providing training and support, we are building the confidence and skills of our teachers, ensuring high-quality PE lessons are delivered consistently across the school.
  • Foster healthy, active lifestyles: We promote physical activity as a core part of daily life, encouraging pupils to get at least 30 minutes of activity a day at school, as recommended by the Chief Medical Officer.

We are proud of our key achievements to date, including offering a variety of before and after-school clubs with high attendance rates, providing structured activities during break and lunchtimes, and actively participating in Trust-wide sporting events. We are particularly focused on our priority to improve swimming attainment in Year 6. Our use of the premium grant is about much more than just sport; it’s about helping our pupils develop confidence, teamwork, and resilience—skills that will benefit them for life.
